wah lao.. christmas liao ah? sibei kin

every year i always say the same thing. " eh eh eh... christmas is the round the corner, wah piang time flies damn fast man "
actually time didnt really fly that fast in the army. i think there was some turbulance along the way in that flight of time.
but but, its been like 3 months since i've been in london and chop chop its the christmas break liao. so basically from now till the 16th of january, i have exactly 0 classes. i do have like 1 exam and 1 test but compared to the other courses which have like 4 exams, i got off pretty lucky.
well its all relative and i believe work load will even out in the future.
so what am i going to do? will be flying down (right) to visit my buddy Kervin at dusseldorf, germany on the 20th of dec - 29th. my lucky brother, together with his gf eunice is knnbccb going to new york to look up my cousins and my newly born nephew.
thinking of going to greece or turkey or somwhere in the middle east between now and then actually. *looks at pocket. full of holes and not a drop of gold* see how lah.
this is going to be my first christmas and new year away from home. hmm... feeling rather ambivalent actually. saw this pretty neat quote: " home is where you hang your @ "
well well well.. not saying i believe in that but i would think of myself as a future globe trotter.
life is good, couldnt have asked for a better start to my civilian life again. except maybe a few cartons of cigarettes.
if you guys want to send things over to moi, i.e like machiam surprise like that please do. things to include: laksa paste, bat ku teh soup base, apple jack cereals, marlboro(red hor!), some pictures would be nice too :)
hope you guys have a great christmas party or smth and celebrate the new years with aplomb!
i'll be sending my well wishes and the like from europe.
watch for the pigeons! lol

my blog is becoming boring

its becoming one of those bitch about your day kind of blogs. i should revert back to my 2 cents worth kpo-ism that has been characteristic in my first few posts. it even landed me a brief spotlight in today!

i found this funny article on talkingcock.com.
it has been quite a talking point. if you guys read mrbrown.com or mr miyagi or other local satirical weblogs, there is a host of information ( you can be bothered). but still i want to kpo and give my 2 cents.
just give you guys the lowdown on the melyvn tan piano case.
basically, he managed to zhao ns with a $5000 (not pounds) fine for having spent the last 37 years in london (notting hill, knn rich kia) as a world famoose pianist. actually i dunno how famoose he really is, apparently not richard clayderman level cos i fucking never heard of him. anyway, my 2 cents worth is this:

CHAO CHEE BYE U LUCKY RICH KIA MANAGED TO ZHAO NS WITH A FUCKING 5K FINE, NOT EVEN ENOUGH TO BUY A GRAND PIANO.

actually not. im really happy for him. he found what he liked to do, pursued it with unwavering passion and now he's a somebody in the international piano scene. honestly, i think singapore needs more arty farty guys like him but thats besides the point.

what bothers me the most is this: i think this is the most obvious example of how the elitism exists blantantly in singapore AND THEY KNOW THEY CAN EXPLOIT THE SYSTEM. this self insulating sense of gratification pisses me off. the only reason how he managed to escape the system was because he came from a well-do family. *ka-ching* while i have nothing to do against wealthy families and what they do with their money, this one really takes the cake. 5K fine for renouncing his citizenship on accounts that he is a talented pianist and has contributed to society and singapore by spreading our good name. what if he never made it as a pianist? halfway he realise, wah kao, nowadays be banker sibei 'in' leh, i think i want to 'zhuan hang" change jobs. will he still be let off with a 5k fine? or asked to come back to either serve it off or imprisonment for awoling?
so just how does this leave the rest of us average joes, stuck in the middle suay kias, with? it seems that our opportunities to keng are much less. but i guess this is how the system works isnt it? if you graduate from some ivy league school, come from super ah-xia family, you would be considered more likely to contribute to the society as compared to a middle-lower class family having send their sons to poly or having them as the first degree holders in the family.
it sucks. but bo pian, thats the way it is. elitism exists in singapore and they are very very very detached from whats going on in the everyday life of the average singaporean. i remember a certain mrs goh saying "400k is peanuts".
ok lah, i know 1 or 2 bad sheeps dont spoil the flock but nabei, deep down i still feel a bit dulan.

actually, my time in the army not that terok lah. frankly, i also think that 95% of people in the ns bitch too much la. i remember in SISPEC one of my bunkmates try arguing with my section commander and in the end he knock it down until dunno how long. then my buddy shouted " eh muh rong! just say sorry sergeant can liao! " funny moment. sad but true. just apologise, carry on 20 and you live to see the next book out day.

this is the individualism that has been robbed from me for the past 2 years. im not complaining though. wah lan i super digressed from my topic..

so anyway, melyvn tan, *applause* i hope more melvyn tan's will appear in singapore (not ah-xia kias cos they spoil market for chyes like me but enterprising passionate people).
